Identification:  Great Falls Women’s Hockey League (GFWHL) is a recreational hockey club, designed to develop new women and men hockey players, improve skills of experienced players, and provide fun, fitness, and camaraderie, for all levels of play.   GFWHL welcomes under age 18 skaters on an individual application basis.

 LEGACY

GFWHL was formally organized in 2004, and has over 20 women skaters, ages 18 and up. GFWHL is the most organized adult league on the ice in Great Falls. GFWHL is very excited to have embraced numerous generations of family members to get together on the ice each year.  We embrace the idea of those that skate together – stay together.

WEEKLY ACTIVITIES

GRIT-Sunday League Skate at 7 p.m.: GFWHL plays weekly league games throughout the season at the Great Falls Ice Plex. The first 4 to 6 weeks are dedicated to skill development. GFWHL contracts experienced instructors who provide on ice instruction. These sessions are focused on hockey orientation, skating skills, puck control, player safety and developing good hockey habits. GFWHL welcomes onto the ice each year a diverse group of ability, young, old, experienced to brand new skaters.

TEASER-Thursday Night Teaser at 8:15 p.m.: GFWHL doubled its annual ice in 2010 by welcoming novice men onto the ice to play with the women on Sunday and Thursday nights. This has been a phenomenal opportunity to double our ice time, welcome families onto the ice to play together, and enjoy weekly post-game/off-ice camaraderie at the Ice Plex.
